1&1 Hosting Frustration
Okay, so. An update again after quite a while.
First thing to rant on, 1&1 Hosting:
Initially the first week into purchasing this package (originally 1&1 Unlimited Windows), I found out that WordPress actually doesn’t work with Windows. So, being the careful me, I emailed 1&1 Sales department asking them if I can switch over to 1&1 Unlimited (Linux), while still having my 6-months free promotion. I got a response saying I could, so I went ahead and transferred it, resulting in the site you see now.
Then two weeks ago, I receive an invoice on my VISA bill saying that I need to pay for 3-months of my hosting. So I contacted billing this time, and they told me that they needed to have been the ones to make the transfer for the promotion to continue (which they did not tell me beforehand), and that for me to get my promotion back, I’ll have to start up a new package, and cancel my old one (with the 60-day money back warranty, which I’m still waiting to do and hopefully everything goes well). So, now this site is hosted onto the new package and everything, with domain transferred, etc.
Second thing to rant on, Mobile OS Workshop:
It was this workshop SFU had which supposedly is to teach you about developing for mobiles (iOS, Android, Window Phone 7). Got there all excited, and it was like… useless. All he did was execute some program code he previously wrote, and then went, “Look! Now you can develop using the touch screen. You can make the next Angry Birds!”, when he didn’t even go through the code he used for his example touch screen app. Good thing I have thenewboston prepared to learn Android development.
